Byrd Regional Hospital, in Leesville, has been serving the needs of West Central Louisiana for over 55 years.  This modern State of the Art hospital has a full range of services - including Medical/Surgical Acute Care, Senior Care Unit (Gero Psychiatric), Intensive Care Unit, full Radiological Services (including Nuclear Medicine, CT Scanning and MRI), and full Pathology Diagnostic Laboratory and services. Leesville Rehabilitation Hospital is exclusively dedicated to the specialty of Inpatient Rehabilitation for patients who are medically stable and can benefit from intensive rehabilitation in a hospital setting. Leesville Rehabilitation Hospital's highly qualified team of healthcare professionals are committed to providing personalized treatment plans and therapy programs to meet the individual needs of their patients.

Bayne-Jones Army Community Hospital, located on the base of Fort Polk, is a 165-bed hospital with a full complement of services to the military population.  A Family Practice Clinic provides primary care to Fort Polk soldiers and their families and retirees and their dependants.

 

Woodlands Health Care Center of Leesville, is a 150-bed Nursing Home that offers long-term acute care to Medicaid, private pay and VA residents.  Services include a special care unit for persons with Alzheimer and related disorders, recreational and social programs, private and semi-private rooms, physical, occupational and speech therapy by arrangement.  Pine Haven Nursing Home is located just outside of Rosepine, south of Leesville, and has 52 beds.

 

Home Health Agencies - There are several home health agencies located in Leesville.  Byrd Home Health, Rapides Regional Medical Center Home Health Care, Thompson Home Health, and Vernon Home Health, Inc.   These agencies provide home health care to Medicare/Medicaid and private paying patients to include in-home lab work, vital signs, medication regimen, family/patient care, tube feeding, catheters and colostomy care, chemotherapy, phototherapy, and IV therapy.

 

Leesville Rural Health Services has 4,200 medical encounters annually.  Currently, the center is staffed by a full-time Family Practice physician and adequate support staff.  Payment for services are based on a sliding fee scale or the patient’s ability to pay.  Medicaid, Medicare and private health insurance are accepted.  Services provided include general primary care, KID-MED, WIC, AMD; referral for specialty services such as Obstetrics/Gynecology and Dental.  Future services will include in-house lab and x-ray services and transportation.

 

Vernon Parish Health Unit provides the following services:  sanitation, communicable disease control, vaccinations, maternal/infant child healthcare, blood pressure control monitoring, food/water protection, home health services, and nursing services.

 

Regional medical centers with the very latest medical technology are available in the Alexandria-Pineville area, 50 miles east of Leesville.  Hospitals in Alexandria include the Central Louisiana State Hospital, Huey P. Long Regional Medical Center, Veterans Administration Medical Center, Briarwood Hospital, Rapides Regional Medical Center, River North Treatment Center and St. Frances Cabrini Hospital.

 

The Shreveport-Bossier area, 115 miles north of Leesville, is a major medical center with the very latest medical technology available.  Currently, over 200 doctors practice in the immediate area.  Hospitals there include the Bossier Medical Center, Doctor’s Hospital, HCA Highland Hospital, Louisiana State University Medical Center, Physicians and Surgeons Hospital, Schumpert Medical Center, Willis-Knighton Medical Center, Willis-Knighton South, Shriner’s Hospital for Crippled Children and Charter Forest Hospital.  These medical facilities offer an array of specialty medical services including:  advance cardiac care, organ transplants, chemical dependency services, cancer treatment centers, women’s health services, as well as psychiatric care services.
